Professional experience

Growing through real production problems.

My experience has taken me from first-line hosting support to working with more complex server, networking, cloud and hosting infrastructure environments.

One role. Three levels of responsibility.

I joined SupportSages Consultancy Services as a Junior Systems Engineer and worked across L1, L2 and L3 support responsibilities.

Each level gave me exposure to a different part of the hosting environment — starting with customer-facing troubleshooting and gradually moving deeper into servers, DNS, cloud platforms and complex production infrastructure.

L1 → L2 → L3

L1 · Foundation

Junior Systems Engineer

SupportSages Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd

My L1 experience gave me the foundation of working directly with hosting environments and clients. A large part of the role involved understanding problems reported by customers, investigating the affected service and taking the issue through to resolution.

I worked extensively with cPanel hosting environments, dealing with hosting accounts, websites, databases, domains and DNS. This involved troubleshooting issues ranging from individual website problems to configuration and connectivity issues.

Email was another significant part of the role. I worked with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, including Outlook-related issues, purchases, setup and email migrations.

Responsibilities
cPanel hosting account and website troubleshooting
Domain setup, DNS records and propagation issues
Website and database troubleshooting
Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 support
Outlook and email configuration
Email migrations and related troubleshooting
WHMCS billing and client management tasks
Direct communication with clients
Environment
cPanel · WHMCS · DNS · MySQL/MariaDB · Google Workspace · Microsoft 365 · Linux Hosting
L2 · Infrastructure

Moving into L2 support meant dealing with more complex issues that required investigation beyond an individual hosting account.

I worked with multiple production DirectAdmin Linux servers and became involved in server provisioning, configuration, deployment and administration.

My work also expanded into DNS infrastructure, including DNS clusters, as well as cloud and CDN environments involving AWS and Amazon CloudFront.

At this stage, troubleshooting became less about applying a known solution and more about investigating how different parts of the infrastructure interacted with each other.

Responsibilities
Advanced hosting and server troubleshooting
Production DirectAdmin Linux servers
Server provisioning and configuration
Server deployment and administration
DNS cluster configuration and troubleshooting
AWS-related infrastructure investigation
Amazon CloudFront troubleshooting
Deeper website, DNS and networking investigations

L3 · Advanced

Systems Engineer

At L3, my work moved further into advanced production troubleshooting and higher-complexity hosting environments.

I worked with high-value international clients, including environments in the UK and Singapore, where issues could involve multiple components across the hosting stack.

My experience at this level includes Icarus-based hosting environments, XOA/Xen Orchestra and Xen, as well as cPanel, DirectAdmin and Enhance.

Rather than focusing on a single application or service, the work often required tracing problems across different layers of the environment, identifying the underlying cause and determining the appropriate resolution.

Responsibilities
Advanced production issue investigation
Support for high-value international clients
Icarus-based hosting environments
XOA / Xen Orchestra and Xen environments
cPanel, DirectAdmin and Enhance
Enhance service configuration and troubleshooting
Complex website, server and DNS issues
Email and database troubleshooting
Root-cause investigation across infrastructure layers
Direct handling of critical production issues

Beyond infrastructure, I build for the web too.

Alongside my systems and hosting work, I've developed web applications and worked with modern JavaScript technologies.

My development experience is primarily through independent projects and practical work rather than being the main focus of my professional systems engineering role.

Working on both sides has helped me understand how applications and infrastructure meet — from writing and deploying an application to understanding what happens when that application reaches a real production environment.

Node.js Experience building and working with server-side JavaScript applications and understanding the environment around Node-based applications.
React Experience creating modern component-based interfaces and working with React-based application structures.
Next.js Experience building web applications with Next.js, including modern application structures and frontend development.
TypeScript Used alongside modern JavaScript frameworks to build structured and maintainable applications.
Tailwind CSS Used for building responsive interfaces across independent web projects.

A few things I've worked on.

300+

Migrated more than 300 cPanel accounts using scripting and automation, helping streamline a large-scale hosting migration process.

L1 → L3

Progressed through multiple levels of technical support, gaining increasingly deeper exposure to hosting infrastructure and production troubleshooting.

CDN

Investigated CDN-related issues involving routing, SSL and connectivity, requiring investigation across multiple parts of the delivery path.

Training

Conducted technical training and shared practical knowledge with other members of the team.
